Gnocchi Sardi is typical of Sardinia, Italy. Traditionally called malloreddus, from the area of Medio Campidano in South Sardinia. Unlike its sister potato gnocchi, gnoochi sardi does not contain potato or come in a dumpling shape. The name in Italy is malloreddus, which means little calves. Gnocchi Sardi is typically served with sausage, tomato sauces, saffron and grated vegan cheese.
